Seminaries, Vocation, Depressed Cities & Tentmakers

Since the launch people have expressed an interest in Tentmaker Group who are not church planters. Anyone can apply to join Tentmakers. Let me give you a couple scenarios and how they would work out:

Seminaries: For some, finding a job and earning a living while in seminary is difficult. We’ve spoken with a seminary about setting-up a Tentmaker Group on campus to help students provide for their family and pay their way through college. The bonus is, upon graduating, they will have residual income to help them as they to go into a ministry role. (Consultative Sales role)

Vocation: People who are looking for a job can apply as well. If you are interested in an opportunity, contact us. The Tentmaker Group will earn a small percentage based on their work and re-invest it into ministry, development and support of the organizational goals.

Depressed Cities: A couple people have contacted us that live in cities where good jobs are scarce. Downsizing, manufacturing outsourcing, etc. has caused high-levels of unemployment. A city can partner and setup a Tentmaker Group to provide jobs to people in their church and city. The local Tentmaker Group will earn revenue and be able to re-invest this into ministries and the city. We believe this can be a great picture of the gospel at work.

Feel free to contact us with questions.

Is this also something church members (like Jay and AV editing which is time consuming) can do to help the church and have more time to work on Kaleo projects?

2nd, is this something we could offer to women seeking an alternate vocation to stripping? Could this be something that would allow single mothers to work from home to reduce childcare expense?

Good questions Eug. I’m looking forward to Drew’s response too. Thanks Drew!
